DAY 1: ARRIVAL AT KILIMANJARO AIRPORT
Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport, a representative from our agency or your driver-guide will greet you and provide a brief overview of your safari. You will then be transferred to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
DAY 2: ARUSHA NATIONAL PARK + Hike
After breakfast, an early departure by car for Arusha National Park. A picnic lunch is provided for a game drive in the park. Arusha National Park is renowned for its black and white colobus monkeys, Mount Meru, marshes, lakes, waterfalls, and craters! This magnificent park offers a wide diversity of landscapes and wildlife. You will be accompanied by a park ranger for a hike in the park. Dinner and overnight stay at a public campsite.
DAY 3: TARANGIRE NATIONAL PARK
Early wake-up after breakfast and departure for Tarangire National Park with a picnic lunch. This park, home to a vast ecosystem, is the site of numerous animal migrations. It stretches along the Tarangire River and consists mainly of low hills at the bottom of a wide valley. Its natural vegetation is primarily composed of acacia forests and giant African baobabs, with extensive wetlands. Dinner and overnight camping in Tarangire National Park.
DAY 4: TARANGIRE NATIONAL PARK
Early wake up, breakfast, and continuation of the safari in Tarangire National Park with a picnic lunch. The park is a true paradise for birdwatchers. In addition, over 550 bird species live here, offering numerous opportunities for observation: the yellow-necked francolin, the white-crowned shrike, and the brilliantly plumaged black-necked weaver are among the most frequently seen. After the safari, dinner and overnight at the campsite.
DAY 5: FROM TARANGIRE TO KARATU
After breakfast, you will end the day with a short safari along the Tarangire River, the central feature of this park, famous for its immense herds of elephants, among the largest in Africa. You will also have the opportunity to observe lions, leopards, lesser kudu, buffalo, oryx, eland, giraffes, and zebras. After the safari, return to the Lake Manyara lodge where a delicious dinner awaits you.
DAY 6: LAKE MANYARA NATIONAL PARK
After breakfast, depart for a safari in Lake Manyara National Park. This impressive park is one of Tanzania’s most spectacular nature reserves. Peaceful and beautiful, it is home to lions, elephants, and hippos. Lake Manyara is an alkaline lake that, at certain times of the year, hosts thousands of flamingos and a wide variety of other birds. Dinner and overnight camping inside the park.
DAY 7: FROM KARATU TO NGORONGORO CRATER
After an early breakfast, you will descend into this magnificent crater for a game drive with a picnic lunch. The Ngorongoro Crater is one of the most densely populated African wildlife reserves in the world and is home to approximately 30,000 animals, including some of Tanzania’s last black rhinos. At 8,300 km², the Ngorongoro Crater is the world’s largest volcanic caldera and arguably one of the most spectacular. In the late afternoon, you’ll arrive at Simba A Camp, located inside the crater, where you’ll spend the night in a tent and enjoy a delicious dinner.
DAY 8: FROM SIMBA CAMP VIA OLDUPAI AND THE MUTANT SANDS TO PIYAYA
An early start for breakfast, followed by a visit to the world-renowned Olduvai Gorge archaeological site, also known as the Cradle of Humankind. The oldest known remains of Homo sapiens were discovered here by Mary Leaky, and this extraordinary place will fascinate anyone interested in the ancestors of humankind. Explore the charming little museum and admire the rugged landscape. This paleoanthropological site, located in the eastern Serengeti plain, is a steep-sided ravine composed of two arms totaling approximately 48 km in length and 90 meters in depth. The deposits exposed on the sides of the gorge have yielded a veritable treasure trove of fossils. The journey continues to Quicksand, a remarkable volcanic ash dune that seems completely incongruous amidst the grassy plains. Perpetually in motion, the dune drifts slowly with the prevailing winds. An intriguing and utterly fascinating phenomenon, these crescent-shaped dunes, created by volcanic ash, form when there is a lot of dust on the ground and a unidirectional wind creates this shifting effect. Accumulating around a rock, the volcanic ash accumulates continuously and forms what looks like a small sand dune. Later in the day, you will travel by car to Piyaya to camp and have dinner there.
DAY 09: LOCAL GUIDE TO GOL MOUNTAIN IN PIYAYA
Wake up early for breakfast and picnic. Piyaya is renowned for serving as a refuge for early humans, thanks to its permanent freshwater springs.Men and animals could survive there even in the most difficult times. In the afternoon, hike to the rock paintings. Accompanied by the Masai, you will explore less frequented areas and discover the hidden hills and caves of this fascinating place. Dinner and night at the Piyaya campsite.
DAY 10: – FROM PIYAYA TO SANJAN GORGES
After breakfast, departure for the bottom of the Rift Valley and start of your trek to Sanjan. This morning’s hike goes up the Rift Valley, following the migration routes of the Maasai and their herds in search of pasture. Once you arrive at the top of the valley, you will join our vehicle and cross the vast Salei plains to reach the Sanjan Gorge (note that the wildebeest migration often takes place here from December to May). Picnics are planned so that you arrive at your destination well-fed. You can explore the Sanjan Gorge in depth or simply relax around the campfire. Dinner and overnight at Sanjan camp. DAY 11: SANJANI – LAKE NATRON
Lake Natron offers many activities that combine easily with dawn and sunset walks. Mid-day, the nearby Ngare Sero Gorge is within walking distance. You can opt for long hikes to the spring or shorter hikes to the waterfalls. The team is on hand to make your stay as adventurous or relaxing as you wish. Dinner and overnight at Lake Natron camp.
DAY 12: LAKE NATRON + AQUATIC PLANTS OF ENGARESERO
After breakfast, we will leave for Lake Natron with your picnic. Located in the Great Rift Valley, Lake Natron offers breathtaking landscapes. Along the way, you’ll pass through traditional Maasai villages and see Oldonyo Lengai, East Africa’s only active volcano. This very alkaline lake is famous for its large colonies of pink flamingos. More than 75% of the world’s flamingos breed there, attracted by its isolation, tranquility and abundance of food. These lesser flamingos are among the rare animals capable of surviving in these extreme conditions. Microorganisms present in the shallow waters of the lake give it vibrant hues, ranging from red to orange to pink. You will then go to Engaresero Falls for a swim. Late afternoon, return to the lodge for dinner and overnight at the Maasai Girrafe Eco Lodge.
DAY 13. FROM NATRON – ARUSHA
After breakfast, descent from Lake Natron to Arusha for dinner and overnight at the hotel.
DAY 14: DEPARTURE
After a relaxing breakfast at the lodge, enjoy a warm farewell as your unforgettable safari comes to an end. You will then be transferred to the airport for your flight, taking with you lasting memories of Africa’s wild landscapes and remarkable wildlife.
